Hanoi City and off to Danang

So Steven and I wandered and wandered Hanoi, discovered all things to see are closed on Mondays and that our lungs are one step closer to being fully contaminated as the smog is so thick there, i think it may be worse than China. with 2 million motorbikes.. in one city... what do you expect!

So there is a lake in the center of Hanoi which houses an ancient turtle over 100 years old. This is the conversation Steven and I had after leaving a temple.

"You know what would be cool?"
"What"
"If we can see that turtle in the lake since it brings good luck"
"What's that?"
"Watch it will be the turtle"
"Look the turtle"

We actually ended up seeing the turtle 2x and had to laugh the second time as the police slapped an American on the ass telling her to not step on the grass. We all had a laugh.

We then flew to Danang and wow, what a temperature difference! I mean. Night and Day. We ended up getting in late, and we are right off the most gorgeous beach I have seen with the softest sand ever! We went to this corner family house for supper.. no English at all, and we tried to order our food. It was awkward, fun, and in the end probably the best meal I have had yet. At first we thought we were raped and paid $30 for our tiger prawns, rice, veggies, 2 beer, wine... but we didn't care as it was so late and we were so hungry.. then we realized that we paid $3. I mean.. $3.00!! The food was incredible, the people so kind and welcoming and we could have stayed there all night. It was sad too as we realized that they slept right in the dining area and all of them lived in that restaurant. We probably could have bartered our food down, but why...the father was so thankful we paid full price, and when we tipped he gave the money to his son. The tiger prawns were fresh and killed right in front of us. A night to remember for sure.

Today we took a cab to Hoi Ann to get our tailored clothes. I almost orgasmed when I realized I could pick a pair of shoes up off the shelf and get my shoes made!!!!! I paid for 2 pairs of custom Crystal shoes.. one pair of open toed high heels that are tiger prints and a pair of mary janes with snake skin straps. I almost shit myself. I designed 2 pairs of sneakers for Steven as well... I am serious... girls, we are booking a trip back here.. just to buy shoes. I felt like the girl from Shopoholic ... :) It took everything for me not to buy boots, sandals.. everything.. its all real leather and will be made for me for pick up tomorrow. I am so happy!

I also got made 2 wool coats (one I picked out of a magazine), 1 suit jacket with a matching pair of pants and a skirt and a custom dress shirt. All for pick up tomorrow!!

I think I will be buying another suitcase.

We then rented scooters and have been ripping it up for the last 4 hours. I needed a break, so I am typing and Steven is drinking... Surprise.

Either way, we are having a fantastic time! Mom, I wanted to make you a jacket too, but you can't just say size 8... I need a manequin of your body :)

We are off to Cambodia on the 25th.. no flights from Danang to Dalat.. so off to Cambodia we go.

It 's a good thing to I am staying in Danang.. Steven and I could shop and shop all day!

  3. I so wish I was there too. Who wouldn't want stuff made to fit just you. Just remember that we have a similar build...right? Haven't seen any recent blogs. JUst makes me wonder if there is some thing that you are trying to keep to yourself for awhile (if you catch my drift, wink, wink).
